A small collection of railwayana from the estate of the late Stephen Crook, a Carlisle-based collector and railway photographer, will be included at Thomson, Roddick & Medcalf’s sale on August 2 in Carlisle.
The highlight from the collection is this
Manchester City nameplate from the London & North Eastern
Railway Footballer B17/4 class locomotive number 2871.
A number of these locomotives, named after
football clubs, were designed by Sir Nigel Gresley and introduced
in the 1930s by the LNER.
The auctioneers expect it to make in the
region of £30,000-40,000.
