Phillips de Pury & Company are to launch a new website – separate from its core brand – in the hope of capitalising on the growing interest in Contemporary art and modern design.
This stand-alone site www.phillipsartexpert.com aims to engage and educate users in the nomenclature of the auction process – there is a video glossary of basic auction terms featuring auctioneer Simon de Pury – and nurture collecting passions.
Artexpert hopes to be a totally interactive site driven by user-based content making use of blogs to embellish an essential reading list of titles for the art expert’s library, a diary of exhibitions around the world, and news of “the pretty young things of the art scene”. Two features already planned are In The Know and a Games Gallery.
In the Know allows users to gather knowledge about a particular piece that has been offered in the Saturday@Phillips sales.
Users are invited to test their knowledge in the Games Gallery. The first two games launching in early July will be Art Quiz and Auction Top Ten (the winner to receive a Business Class ticket from anywhere in the world plus accommodation to attend a Phillips de Pury & Company evening sale in New York or London) and will be followed by two additional games, Name That Brushstroke and Build Your Own Collection to launch in early September.
