The watercolour of a Paris street, right, is the work of Floris Arntzenius (1864-1925), an East Indies-born Dutch artist, that sold at $28,000 (£15,400). A Hague School artist with a style that has been described as presenting "intimate, atmospheric impressionism", he was the subject of an exhibition held, with Arntzenius family participation, by Sotheby's Amsterdam in October 2003.
Catalogued as a mid-19th century European piece, the burr walnut slope-front desk seen right, the fall, sides and serpentine drawer fronts all with ribbon inlay, made $13,500 (£7425).
