Anthemion

Anthemion are an auction house in Cardiff, South Wales. Established in 2000, they conduct regular general auctions as well as specialist fine art, sporting, collectors and antiques sales.

Their principal, Ryan Beach started his career at Phillips auctioneers in 1995 and launched the firm following the closure of the Phillips' regional network including their Cardiff saleroom.

Silver table toppers draw strong trade interest

Exuding the exuberant confidence of pre-1914 Britain, this 21in (52cm) long silver table centrepiece, below, was a natural target for the London trade at the Anthemion (17.5% buyer’s premium) November 20 sale in Cardiff.

NEARLY 1300 lots were offered by Anthemion Auctions of Cardiff in an April 21 sale of sports memorabilia and among the soccer programmes, there was a bit of a shock when a 1945 programme for a Newport County v Chelsea match, valued at £30-40, was bid to £2600!

With the recent closure of numerous manufacturing depots belonging to a Cardiff company, the time came to dispose of items from the manager’s flat. The best of these items, all of which were sold on November 20 at the Cardiff rooms of Anthemion Auctions, was this Regency mahogany secretaire bookcase.
