The tables, which passed through the Dean family to an unmarried daughter and then on to the present private vendors, were unusually delicate and small with fine detail and high-quality workmanship.
Conservatively estimated at £1500-2500 because of damage to the tops, the pair created a lot of interest with very keen bidding from several dealers resulting in a winning bid of £16,000.
Sheraton pair soars to £16,000
Originally belonging to the Dean family of Fareham House, Hampshire, this pair of Sheraton period mahogany folding card tables, right, was offered at the Cotswold Auction Company (15% buyer’s premium) on June 10.
