Denys Eyre Bower (1905-77) bought for £6000 the 17th century Chiddingstone Castle, near Edenbridge in Kent, filled it to the turrets with his collections of Japanese swords and lacquer, Egyptian antiquities, Stuart and Jacobite history and Buddhism pieces and opened the place to the public.
The castle is now run by a trust which holds regular events to raise money for its upkeep.
These include the annual summer vintage fair, to be held this year on Saturday and Sunday, June 30-July 1.
Attractions include 50 stalls selling vintage, with dancing and vintage circus stalls spread throughout the grounds.
Admission is £6, with a half-price entry of £4.50 to the castle.
