BADA
The British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) is a trade association for antique dealers in Britain. Founded in 1918, BADA’s main aim is to ‘establish and maintain confidence between its members and the public, both in buying and selling’.
The association campaigns on issues affecting the trade and also stages an annual fair in London for its members.
Cato apologises after TV mistake at Olympia fair
14 July 2008AT their Council meeting last week the British Antique Dealers Association decided on no further action regarding complaints by some members that well-known Kent dealer and fellow member Lennox Cato was fitted with a microphone while carrying out vetting duties at last month's Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair.
Change at the top for the BADA
23 June 2008Elaine Dean, Secretary General of The British Antique Dealers’ Association for the past 25 years, will step down on July 10. She will be succeeded by her current deputy Mark Dodgson who already has 18 years experience with the BADA.
BADA accepts Hobbs resignation
12 May 2008AFTER suspending the membership of London dealer John Hobbs following allegations made against him in the press in early April, the British Antique Dealers’ Association have announced that Mr Hobbs has resigned from the association.
BADA suspend member pending inquiry
14 April 2008The British Antique Dealers’ Association have suspended the membership of John Hobbs pending an inquiry into the allegations made against the Pimlico Road dealer in a national newspaper.
North East to host first quality fair
21 May 2007The increasingly prosperous North East of England will receive its first high-end antiques fair next February when 27 LAPADA or BADA dealers descend upon Linden Hall, near Morpeth in Northumberland.
BADA dealers see improved trading climate

Cato launches BADA centre

Brooke hands over to Rawlings at BADA
19 April 2005Baroness Rawlings of Burnham Westgate has accepted the invitation of the British Antique Dealers’ Association to become their new president. She will replace Lord Brooke of Sutton Mandeville who has filled the role since 1995.

Truman named as BADA chairman
10 August 2004CHARLES Truman has been named as the new chairman of the British Antiques Dealers Association. He takes over from pottery dealer Jonathan Horne.
BADA fight trade’s corner over ivory
23 March 2004THE British Antique Dealers’ Association believe campaigners are wrong to call for only independent registered experts to be allowed to date ivory objects. The move would drive trade underground they say.
