Royal Academy

Royal Academy is based in Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, and is a privately funded art institution. It was founded in 1768, following an act passed by King George III designed to promote art and design in Britain.

The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition has been held annually since 1769. Lectures on art were held at the institution by James Barry, J.M.W Turner and Sir Joshua Reynolds.
