A single-owner collection of clocks, timepieces and scientific instruments formed over 60 years went under the hammer at Fellows (25% buyer’s premium) in Birmingham on September 4.

Rolex is without question the most well-known manufacturer and Patek Philippe has produced some of the most collectable watches on the market. However, JLC arguably has a richer and more important horological history than both.”

Not quite in step with contemporary interiors, French decorative clocks have had a lower profile at auction in recent times.

The Silver, Coins & Medals auction at Fellows in Birmingham on September 13 will include this garniture of three George V silver pedestal bowls with lion and serpent embellishments. estimated at £1500-2500.
