Chiswick Auctions of west London has hired a motoring specialist and will add a series of car and automobilia sales to its auction calendar.

Phillip Knapper has joined as head of its new department and its first Motor Cars & Automobilia sale, featuring 30 classic cars including a Bentley and Austin-Healey alongside automobilia, is this weekend (April 27) at Ham Polo Club in Richmond, south-west London.

Knapper, previously a specialist at Sotheby’s, Roseberys, Freemans Auctions in Philadelphia and, more recently, London Auction Rooms, has more than 40 years’ experience.

Séan McIlroy has left Doerr Valuations where he had been senior valuer working on business development since 2016. 

He continues as the co-owner and director of Piano Auctions.

David Feldman International Auctioneers

Swiss stamp auction house David Feldman International Auctioneers has hired Guy Croton to focus on its client relationships in the UK, where he will be based, as well as in Asia and North America.
Feldman was most recently managing director of philately for Stanley Gibbons. He previously worked at Harmers of London in 1995 and Spink from 2002-17.

The International Fine Print Dealers Association

Helen Toomer has joined The International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) as fair director. For the past 14 years she has organised fairs in the US and the UK. At PULSE Contemporary Art Fair she was fair director and she helped launch the Collective Design Fair in 2013.

She will work with recent recruit, executive director Jenny Gibbs, who joined in February. President of the IFPDA David Tunick said: “Jenny and Helen make a formidable team -- their breadth of experience and energetic leadership is what we need to advance the mission and objectives of the IFPDA at this pivotal time for the organisation and for the fair.”
