Lawrences are looking for a driven, enthusiastic and experienced valuer, cataloguer and business-getter to run and grow our specialist Books, Maps, Manuscripts & Photography department.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity and resources to run the department in their own way, with the aim of enhancing existing sales and establishing Lawrences as one of the foremost names in the industry, both in the South West and nationwide.

Lawrences currently operates from two salerooms in Crewkerne and Westbury. With regular online sales and a series of specialist Fine Art and Collectors sales throughout the year, this role offers candidates the chance to join one of the most prominent and forward-thinking auction houses in the UK.

Job Description
• The successful candidate will be expected to provide specialist knowledge and valuations on all Books, Manuscripts, Maps & Photography across both salerooms, in clients homes and in the form of probate/insurance valuations
• The successful candidate will be expected to travel to valuation days, industry events and fairs in order to further the Lawrences brand and to bring in new business.

Person Specification
Essential:
• The successful candidate must have proven knowledge and experience in the world of books, maps and manuscripts.
• Must be able to drive, and have the means of travelling to visit clients and operate regularly between our two salerooms.
• Must be able to learn and adapt to new IT systems.
• Must be able to work independently in meeting individual deadlines, whilst also adhering to larger company-wide deadlines within the Lawrences team.

Advantageous:
• Experience of working in an auction house, or with auction software.
