Rolex

Rolex watches are the cream of the vintage wristwatch market and therefore, alongside Patek Philippe, tend to make the highest prices. Over the years a host of famous people have worn them and this adds to the value.

One of the attractions is that many Rolexes were made for specific purposes, such as the Submariner intended for divers, or sport versions, and as such they are tough and practical. They also have plenty of details that vary widely even for the same model, giving particular appeal to collectors.

Rare Rolex takes £140,000 at auction

A Rolex watch that was bought in 1966 for £69.10 has sold at auction for £140,000. The rare Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner stainless steel model is highly desired by collectors due to its 3-6-9 Explorer dial.

The Rolex Submariner came with an Explorer 3-6-9 gloss dial and its box and booklet.
