The sale will be conducted in association with Kidson Trigg at their premises in Highworth near Swindon.
Litts will auction selected items from its gun-room including fine English guns, antique and modern weapons, accessories, militaria and books. The firm says it receives many guns in part-exchange and buys in lots of fine English guns, only some of which are wanted for retail. The auction has a unique slant with no buyer’s premium, no seller’s premium and the option of a one-year maintenance agreement for £40. VAT is only levied when the gun offered is new. Litts describe the sale as an opportunity for the shooting public to buy like the trade.

The first sale includes a trio of McKay Brown double barrelled, side-by-side boxlocks previously owned by the author Wilbur Smith (estimate £49,000-59,000), and a historic Browning competition clay and pigeon gun (last seen at Christie’s in May 2003) and previously owned by US champion, world champion and all-time best shot Russell B. Aitken (1910-2002). Contact 07747 105885.
