The new umbrella event, known as Cologne Fine Art will run from February 15-19 in Halls 4 and 5 of Cologne’s Kölnmesse (trade fair centre) and will replace the Westdeutsche Künst Messe, Künstköln and the Antiquariatsmesse, which used to run concurrently.

Last year, all three events were staged on the same floor of the trade centre for the first time and the idea of merging the three appears to be the logical next step.

“There was an overwhelming sense that this was the way to go, to bring all three fairs together,” said Art Cologne’s director Gerard A. Goodrow.

Visitors can expect to find a broad mix of art, antiques and rare books from dealers from across Germany plus a handful of foreign exhibitors. Modern Art will have the strongest showing with 97 dealers, followed by 77 dealers bringing Old Masters, furniture and other works of art and by 19 antiquarian book and print dealers.
