The company, a division of the leading independent estate agency in the Midlands established in 1971, have shelved all of their future sales with the exception of a clearance event next month. While no official announcement has been made, ATG understands this September 7 sale will be the last held at St Marks House.

Calls to the saleroom are now being handled by an agency while the company website lists as cancelled the catalogued fine art and antiques events scheduled for October 6 and December 1, and forthcoming sales of Victoriana and transport models.

It is believed the firm has chosen to focus upon core activities in a difficult auction marketplace. The news comes in the wake of a decision by Hamilton Osborne King to refer all fine art business to former Dublin rival James Adam & Son and the news that Wintertons are to downsize their fine art auction operation by closing their Lichfield saleroom.
