Millais sketches withdrawn
23 August 2010
FOUR sketches by Pre-Raphaelite artist John Everett Millais, found tucked inside covers of Led Zeppelin LPs, have been withdrawn from sale at Chilcotts auctioneers in Tiverton, Devon, because of a “misunderstanding over ownership” according to the auctioneers.

The sketches (previewed in ATG 1952) were found by Sue Cook, 46, from Somerset, in the home of Led Zeppelin's former chauffeur and aide to Jimmy Page, who she cared for before his death earlier this year at the age of 81.

Last week, Liz Chilcott of Chilcotts auctioneers told ATG: "The vendor, Mrs Cook, has decided not to sell the drawings following discussions with the group (Led Zeppelin)".
