The watch, that had some signs of use, had cost £55 when purchased new in 1918 by W.H. Cutler Esq., a boxer from Brixton.

Not forgetting the £6200 performance of a solitaire diamond ring, approximately 4.50ct that sold for just above the lower estimate, the other highlights of this specialist evening sale of silver and jewellery was a Nathaniel Mills (Birmingham 1842) snuffbox decorated with an unidentified (and quite rubbed) church (£310) and a Victorian gentleman's dressing case with silver-topped accessories (£460).
