David Gill Gallery, specialists in modern and contemporary art and furniture, and Hamiltons, specialists in modern masters of photography were selected by a committee chaired by designer Jasper Conran.

The winners were announced today during PAD’s 10th anniversary lunch where Tim Jeffries of Hamiltons feigned tears of delight. Jeffries, a six-year veteran of the fair, is also on the board and received the same prize two years ago.

James (Paris) was awarded best 20th century decorative art for their pair of Reversivel lounge chairs, c. 1955, made by Martin Eisler & Carlo Hauner. Gallery Fumi (London), based in Hoxton, won best contemporary design for the piece Asabikeshiinh (Dreamcatcher), designed by Rowan Mersh.

Other members of the awards committee included Yana Peel of Serpentine Galleries, designer Tom Dixon, Zaha Hadid Architects director Patrik Schumacher and Deyan Sudjic of the design museum.
