Scheduled to run twice a year in March and September at Chelsea Old Town Hall in the King's Road, the event will supersede Chelsea Antiques Fair.

That event started in 1950 and has been run by fair organiser Caroline Penman since 1982, although this September's event was cancelled due to a problem with the venue over dates.

The new fair has been set for March 17-20 and September 15-18.

Penman Fairs say the new event aims to introduce collectors and interior designers to a selection of specialist dealers based in the UK. Exhibits will be chosen from "across the range of craftsman-made art and artifacts, from any period and of any age, with a strong emphasis on design".

Thirty-five dealers have been invited to exhibit, offering furniture, silver, glass, ceramics, metalwork, art, sculpture and pieces in mixed media.

The organisers hope the emphasis on design will offer something different from the BADA and LAPADA fairs, held in March and September respectively, while also "keeping an element of the antique".
