Finding another suitable location to trade from together presented a challenge but seven of the displaced dealers are moving to new premises at Babdown Airfield near Tetbury. They will occupy a former aircraft hangar, recently acquired by Toby Lorford and Lesley Ferguson who own Lorfords Antiques in Tetbury and also trade from Babdown as Lorfords@Babdown Airfield.
Hangar One at Babdown opens for business this week. The incoming dealers - Dean Antiques, Christophe Edwards, Roderic Haugh, Christopher Jones, Simon Pugh, Richard Steenberg and Garoa Zugasti - will continue to offer the distinctive mix of antiques and design pieces that characterised their London emporium since 2001.
"Seamless"
Speaking for the seven dealers moving to the Cotswolds, Christophe Edwards said: "We are all extremely excited by the idea of joining the dealers at Babdown. The move will be fairly seamless given the similarity of the two spaces and we look forward to enjoying our more bucolic surroundings in such heavyweight company."
Toby Lorford told ATG of his satisfaction in attracting new faces to Tetbury. "They say timing is everything, and acquiring the second hangar here at Babdown gave us the opportunity to add this important group of dealers to our impressive line-up of residents at Babdown. We have been told that we now represent the most important trade call in Europe and look forward to developing this unique space."
Of the other Core One dealers, Orlando Harris of JW Blanchard Antiques will continue to work with private clients while Piers Woodnutt of Woodnutt Antiques has moved to 271 Lillie Road, London. James Graham Stewart and Peter Glaisher of Glaisher and Nash Antiques will announce their plans shortly.
