Lady Borwick (who chooses not to use her title, acquired through marriage) was director of Olympia antiques fairs for 11 years, from 1990 to 2001. She entered political life in 2002 when she became a councillor for the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, covering the antiques-dealing districts of Kensington Church Street and Portobello Road.

In 2008 she was elected to the London Assembly, becoming deputy mayor of London in 2012 under Boris Johnson, and this year was elected MP for Kensington.

Speaking about her appointment, Borwick said: "I relish being given the opportunity of representing the association and, ever conscious of the difficulties facing the UK trade, will use my experience to do all I can to help the dealers in this wonderful industry."
