It will be going on view earlier in January in Florida.

First introduced in 1794, the US silver dollar shows Liberty with her hair flowing to the obverse, with a rustic eagle to the reverse. Only 1758 of the coins were ever minted - the culmination of attempts by Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and others to regulate US currency following the War of Independence.

Thomas Pinckney, the US Minister to Great Britain, engaged Albion Coxe as assayer, while a Philadelphia clock-maker and steam-engine builder, Henry Voight, was made the chief coiner of the mint.

The example being offered by Spink is estimated at $300,000-400,000. The sale will be held on January 27.
