The Ceres Collection, formed over the last seven decades, features 101 lots from the ancient world through to the 18th century. Each lot is mounted on a ring for wearing.
Museums tend to dominate this sector, so this is a rare opportunity for private collectors to compete for items of this standard and, according to the catalogue, there are no reserves.
Among the highlights is the last lot, shown here, a fragmentary cameo, in modern mount, of a lady of the court of the emperor Augustus (27BC-14AD).
Estimate: £1500-2000.
The sale will take place on September 17.
