The jade rolling horse dated to the early part of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644) that fetched £170,000 at Mallams.
The horse, in a celadon green and brown striated stone, measured just 3in (8cm) long but was dated to the early part of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
It was sold with an original receipt from Dunt King of Hong Kong which stated it was bought on December 14, 1962 for HK$900 by the vendor's late husband. A similar carving is in the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge and is illustrated in James C.S. Lin's The Immortal Stone.
With the jade estimated at £20,000-30,000 on October 22, Mallams took precautions and disabled online bidding for this particular lot while asking interested parties to a pay a £5000 deposit before bidding. The winning bidder was from overseas.
The buyer's premium was 20%.
