The flower, which is sewn to card with the inscription 'Flowers from the Battlefield', was mailed to the vendor's grandmother, Agnes Louisa Young, in Fulham by her husband, Louis James Young, service No 66266, from the front in June 1917.
It marks the death two years earlier of the couple's seven-year-old daughter Lydia and carries the poignant poem: An angel took my flower away. Yet I will not repine. For Jesus in his bosom wears. The flower that once was mine.
Louis survived the war and Agnes gave birth to a second daughter in 1922 who was christened Rosaline, meaning 'Little Rose'. The family home was flattened after bomb damage during the Second World War but the rose and its accompanying documents survived.
The Buckinghamshire vendor has entered it for sale with a guide price of £1500-2000.
