Lowry’s people on a promenade

14 March 2014Written by Alex Capon

A sketch by LS Lowry will be offered at Peter Wilson of Nantwich in Cheshire on May 1.

People on a Promenade is a 9.75 x 11.75in (24.5 x 30cm) crayon and pencil drawing which is signed and dated 1969.

It also has a signed inscription on the verso dedicating the picture to Lawrence Ives, a great friend of the artist whose collection was sold at Christie's in 2000.

Having also been exhibited at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester and Sunderland Museum and Art Galleries, it is estimated at £45,000-50,000.
