Art Deco brooch – ‘all good’

30 January 2014Written by ATG Reporter

This Art Deco 18ct gold Egyptian Revival gem-set winged scarab brooch with rose-cut diamonds will appear in the Antique & Modern Jewellery sale being held by Fellows of Birmingham.

Fellows are currently sponsoring a museum exhibition and an Egyptologist at the museum has interpreted the hieroglyphs as saying neb nefer - literally 'all good'.

They are surrounded by two images of the crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, one inverted. The brooch represents the sun at dawn in the form of the god Harmachis or Horus the Behdetdite.

The estimate is £400-600. The sale takes place on February 13
