A statement on their website says: "As a long-standing local business the decision to close Rye Auction Galleries was not taken lightly," but "due to the changing face of the industry (the evolution of competition through online auction services and internet shopping sites), demand for services and a lack of potential for future development, T. Bourne & Son [owners since 1992] decided to focus efforts on the future development of other businesses within the group."

Rye Auction Galleries, the East Sussex saleroom based in Rock Channel, Rye, have closed down.
