Spink stop coin dealing to focus on auctions

25 November 2013Written by ATG Reporter

Spink have decided to give up their retail coins operation in order to focus all efforts on auctions and private treaty sales.

"We are not going to stock a large inventory of low-value coins but we'll continue to have great coins on offer in the showroom for private treaty," said a spokesman. "Spink will continue to be a buyer of top-quality rare and important coins."

Meanwhile, they have hired former Bonhams specialist Edouard Wyngaard to help develop the coins auction business and have taken on three numismatic experts in Hong Kong to boost their coins and banknotes business in the region.
