This 19th century Russian egg forms part of a large collection to be included in Stroud Auction Rooms’ two-day sale on March 13-14 in Gloucestershire.
The porcelain relief moulded Easter egg has
the resurrection of Christ painted to one side and the annunciation
on the other.
Amassed over many years by a private
collector, the 56 lots include ivory, glass and Mauchline Ware eggs
many decorated with religious scenes, flowers, fruits and
birds.
Estimates range from £200-1200.
