Russian egg in time for Easter

08 March 2013Written by ATG Reporter

This 19th century Russian egg forms part of a large collection to be included in Stroud Auction Rooms’ two-day sale on March 13-14 in Gloucestershire.

The porcelain relief moulded Easter egg has the resurrection of Christ painted to one side and the annunciation on the other.

Amassed over many years by a private collector, the 56 lots include ivory, glass and Mauchline Ware eggs many decorated with religious scenes, flowers, fruits and birds.

Estimates range from £200-1200.
