The first sale of the year for Woolley & Wallis’ jewellery department takes place on January 24 in Salisbury.
Pictured here is an Indian gem set gold
pendant estimated at £600-800.
It is inscribed to the reverse with a quote
from the Hindu Holy Book Bhagavad Gita, with Sri
Bhagavate, meaning 'The Father of Creation which is
unchangeable and permanent' and Namaha - 'I thank you
and I acknowledge this presence in my life. I ask for your guidance
at all times'.
The sale will also include 20 lots from the
collection of the late silver dealer Michael Wellby. Sotheby's
dispersed a large part of his collection in a £2.8m white glove
sale in December 2012.
