This image shows artist Fred Cuming (b.1936) viewing one of his own paintings depicting his studio in Hythe. It was a work he had not seen for 42 years until it turned up for an auction taking place on September 19.
The 3ft x 4ft (91cm x 1.22m) signed oil on board was painted in
1969 or 1970 when Cuming produced a number of such works trying to
catch the early evening light contrasting with the artificial light
of his studio interior.
It is estimated at £8000-10,000 for the sale at Grand Auctions
in Folkestone.
The same sale will also feature an Adrian Heath (1920-1992)
abstract (est: £30,000-40,000) which had formerly been in the
collection of Kate Kemper, the heiress of Kemper Industries, a
pre-war German household electronics manufacturer, as well as other
works including a Gerald Wilde (1905-1989) oil on board (est:
£10,000-15,000).
Also on offer is the 'Magical Magyars' Wembley ticket which
featured in a separate preview by ATG.
