29 October 2012Written by ATG Reporter

Cast in the shape of a standing tapir, this Chinese bronze censer was acquired in China by the vendor’s grandfather Sir Percy Alden (1865-1944), a British social worker, land reformer and politician.

Decorated with polychrome cloisonné enamels, the 6½ x 9in (17 x 23cm) vessel dating from the Ming Dynasty will be included in Bonington's sale on November 7 in Essex estimated at £6000-8000.
