Yorkshire furniture maker’s collection to be sold

29 May 2012Written by ATG Reporter

A collection of work by the late Sid Pollard, a well-known Yorkshire furniture maker, will go under the hammer at Addison’s sale in Barnard Castle, County Durham, on June 2.

Pollard initially worked for Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson but left to join the family construction business in Bagby, near Thirsk.

The eight-piece collection, purchased directly from him in the 1970s, comprises a rocking chair, stool, occasional table, display case, grandmother clock, coffee table, bookcase and the 17 x 9in (45 x 23cm) magazine rack pictured here (estimate £200-300).
