The sale at Grand Auctions in Folkestone on May 23 will offer a textile wall panel designed by Henry Moore in the 1940s, of which only 65 were made.
Moore was commissioned to design
textiles by Zika Ascher, a Czech textile manufacturer, who had fled
Germany before the war.
These panels were originally priced
at 70 guineas but it seems that the artist abandoned plans for
further panels due to a lack of interest.
Rarely seen on the market, the 5ft 2in x 3ft
11in (1.06 x 1.02m) example at Folkestone is estimated at
£3000-5000.
