A 76-lot single-owner collection of Imperial Chinese porcelain, jade and ivories from the Ming and Qing dynasties is to be offered at The Canterbury Auctions Galleries’ two-day sale on May 22-23 in Kent.
Purchased by Mr and Mrs Evans in the
late 1960s from the likes of Marchant, Spink and Moss, the
collection has estimates ranging from around £100-30,000.
The sale's highlight is this
'chicken cup', a 3½ x 2in (9cm x 6cm) Chinese porcelain piece from
the Yongzheng period.
Illustrated in Soame Jenyns's
seminal work published in 1951, it is estimated at
£20,000-30,000.
