ONLY a matter of weeks after the closure of Bonhams’ long-running saleroom in Knowle, a new auction house has opened in the Warwickshire town.
Knowle Auction Rooms hold
their inaugural sale on Wednesday, March 14.
The venture is the brainchild of Daisy
Hoff-Bedford, 24, the daughter of Midlands dealers who most
recently worked for Coutts bank, while Simon Rayner, formerly of
Dreweatts Bristol, will be auctioneer and saleroom manager
The Station Road saleroom, previously a wine
merchants, is next door to Bonhams' premises, which now function as
a consignment office for goods sold in London, Chester and their
new Oxford salerooms.
Knowle Auction Rooms plan monthly sales (the
first of more than 400 lots includes a series of Jaguar factory
pencil drawings of the E-type) with a specialist Oriental works of
art sale scheduled for May.
Daisy Hoff-Bedford toldATGthe new venture
had received considerable local support from both residents and the
local traders, who in recent months have missed the regular influx
of auction buyers to the town.
