Two England caps awarded to West Ham goalkeeper Ted Hufton (1892-1967) are to be sold at Plymouth Auction Rooms on July 18.
He made his international debut against
Belgium in a 2-2 draw in 1923, earning his sixth and final cap in a
game against Spain in 1929 which England lost 4-3.
Making 456 appearances for The Hammers from
1919-1932, he became known as 'The Penalty King', saving 11 out of
18 penalties in his first season alone.
The collection includes a pair of medals, a
metal goalkeeper inscribed with May You Keep Saving 1928,
a scrapbook and two programmes. Estimate £7000-1000.
