After seven years, Baroness Rawlings will step down as president of the British Antique Dealers’ Association in January to be replaced by Lord Evans of Temple Guiting.
A keen collector of antiques, Lord (Matthew)
Evans was chairman of the publishers Faber & Faber for more
than 20 years, leading a restructuring and modernising programme at
the business. He was previously chairman of the former Museums
& Archives Council, of the Royal Court Theatre and served as a
member of the Arts Council's National Lottery Advisory Panel.
In addition to serving as a Whip in the last
government, he was also Shadow Minister for the Arts in 2011 and at
present is non-executive chairman of the UK subsidiary of EFG Bank,
a Swiss private bank.
