Jacob Epstein bronze appears North of the Border

Thomson Roddick Scottish Auctions will sell the collection of the late Andrew Elliott, a solicitor, plantsman and well-known patron of Scottish art who was involved in establishing the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh at their sale in the city on August 30.

Among the 50 or so lots offered is this 14in (38cm) bronze bust by Sir Jacob Epstein (1880-1959) entitled First Portrait of Euphemia Lamb and estimated at £5000-8000.

The collection also features paintings by Joan Eardley, Denis Peploe, David McClure and Samuel John Lamorna Birch.
