Wind in the Willows characters Mole, Ratty and Toad are to go under the hammer at Michael Bowman of Newton Abbot in Devon on May 5.
In the form of a 4 x 6½in (10 x
16.5cm) pen and ink drawing from 1969, the lot will also include
correspondence from the artist E.H. Shepard (1879-1976) to a Mrs
Shirley of Lodsworth, the Sussex village in which he lived,
thanking her in particular for gifts he received on his 90th
birthday. Estimate £10,000-15,000.
