Nine low-carbon houses are being developed by the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment with the Building Research Establishment in Watford, and a version of the Prince's House, pictured right, has proved a big hit at the show.

Film set designer Christina Moore sourced the textiles and furniture for the interior from markets, fairs and auction houses, including Sunbury Antiques Market at Kempton Racecourse.

Refurbishing and recycling, Christina and her team repainted 1950s cupboards, and used vintage textiles to reupholster antique chairs and sofas.

Antique lamps, ceramics and glass filled the rooms.

"It was a very liberating experience. It was all about recycling old pieces," said Christina. "It shows you can be creative. You can put a lot of yourself into a house."

And creative recycling in their homes is just what many people are doing, judging by the increasingly hectic fairs and markets scene across the country.

The next bi-monthly Sunbury Antiques Market at Kempton Racecourse is on Tuesday, April 26. Tel: 01932 230946.
