06 September 2010Written by ATG Reporter

THE five City of London livery companies with particular connections with wood (Carpenters, Furniture-Makers, Joiners, Turners and Upholders) are currently raising funds for the Arboretum Trust with a charity auction titled Branching Out.

Celebrities, artists and craftsmen were invited to transform a 6in (15cm) section of branch from the trust's woodland at Castle Howard. Contributors range from internationally renowned turners such as Stuart Mortimer and Binh Pho to celebrities like Joanna Lumley, Jon Snow and Chris Martin of Coldplay.

All 62 lots can be viewed and bids left in a timed auction at www.i-bidder.com/branchingout.

Ten selected lots will be auctioned at a private reception at Bonhams Bond Street on Thursday, September 16 at 7pm.

For invitations to the reception email Penrose@halson.com
