This week's printed issue of ATG comes with a poster for the event and members of the trade are encouraged to display it prominently to spread this year's message: "Now is the time to buy antiques".

There will be two messages particularly attractive to the younger consumer: antiques are green and antiques are excellent value for money.

Campaigners believe that this is the time to concentrate on the green credentials of pieces which have been been shown to have a carbon footprint a fraction the size of the contemporary equivalent.

At the same time antique furniture is very competitively priced compared to the alternatives available on the high street.

To emphasise the green theme, www.antiquesaregreen.org has donated an attractive balloon mantel clock for a free prize draw which can be entered via the website at www.nationalantiquesweek.com. That is also the place to download a free entry voucher for a wide range of antiques fairs participating in the free entry promotion throughout November.

Among these is the Winter Fine Arts Fair at Olympia, which will be integrating National Antiques Week into the events programme.

National Antiques Week is sponsored and promoted on behalf of the whole antiques trade by a group of media and other antiques industry partners: Antiquesnews & Fairs, ATG, BADA, BBC Homes & Antiques, Clarion Events, Cotswolds Antique Dealers' Association, IACF, Kensington Church Street Antique Dealers' Association, Miller's, SOFAA, Thames Valley Antique Dealers' Association, West of England Antique Dealers' Association and www.antiques.co.uk
