After three years at Chilcott School, Tiverton, they have now struck a deal to open the Silver Street saleroom in conjunction with Stags, a West Country firm of estate agents, valuers and estate managers.
There have been auction sales in Silver Street for at least 30 years and it is still home to Stags’ weekly livestock market.
The premises will now also be used for Saturday general sales of lower value antiques, secondhand furniture and household items – the first on Saturday, December 1 – and provide Chilcotts with the facilities to conduct weekly valuation mornings on Fridays.
Sales will be held quarterly for an initial period, but Duncan Chilcott expects them to become more frequent as the business grows.
Specialist sales of good antiques and works of art will continue unchanged at Chilcotts in Tiverton.
Dreweatt Neate no longer hold sales at the Honiton Galleries but Bonhams continue to hold sales in Honiton at their Dowell Street premises.
