The thieves stole two items of jewellery from Town Hall Antiques in Woburn, Bedford-shire back in mid-September.

Related thefts in Wallingford and Tetsworth were reported in ATG No 1709, October 8.

At Woburn, the ruby and diamond-set 18ct gold Victorian lady's watch and an 18ct bracelet were kept in a locked, alarmed cabinet, but there was a small gap which the thieves used to hook out the items, presumably using a thin wire.

They subsequently returned to the shop in early October, but made a hasty retreat after seeing their pictures on the wall behind the counter.
They were also foiled in a recent attempt to steal from a shop in Berkhamstead.
