Works on paper by Chagall, Kandinsky, Léger, Tanguy and Alberto Giacometti all sold above the estimate, and two works by Robert Delaunay sold to the same European private buyer who also claimed Redon's charcoal La Musique.
One of these, a colourful study of a rugby line-out for Delaunay's L'Equipe de Cardiff, 11 x 8 1/2in (29 x 22cm), climbed to €52,000 (£35,370).
Seven works by Frantisek Kupka (1871-1957) sold over estimate, led by Les Noces Métalliques (c.1928), an 18 x 13in (46 x 34cm) gouache inspired by Kupka's visits to a friend's factory in Prague, which sold at €64,500 (£43,900). Kupka's pastel Ouverture (c.1920), 14 x 13in (36 x 33cm), took €50,000 (£34,000), while his watercolour Composition Géométrique, 18 x 5 3/4in (45 x 14.5cm) - acquired by Jacob from the artist's wife Eugenie - sold in the room to Paris dealer Anisabelle Berès at a double-estimate €22,500 (£15,300).
