Despite the important nature of many items being sold to militaria and weapons specialists at the Marlow rooms of Bosleys (15% buyer's premium) on March 10, there were, as usual, a number of more domestic objects included.
One such, illustrating the indiscriminate nature of modern war, was the child’s teddy bear gas mask case with red rubber Mickey Mouse gas mask, shown right.
Although the mask would have been issued officially, the case was a private purchase, no doubt to ensure that the child was persuaded to carry the necessity at this dangerous time. It sold at £260.
