Police call for new leads in cheque fraud case

15 April 2004Written by ATG Reporter

AVON and Somerset Police are currently investigating a series of cheque deceptions committed against antique shops and dealers throughout the UK and Europe over the last two years.

A stolen NatWest cheque book bearing the title For and On Behalf of Suffolk Holdings Ltd has been used to purchase numerous antique items.

Offences have so far been discovered in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Suffolk and Essex, Brussels and France.

Investigating officers believe that further offences may have been committed and are asking any member of the trade who thinks they have fallen victim to the fraud to contact them.

Any person with information is asked to contact DC 3194 Antony Watts on 01935 402217 (direct line), 01275 818181 (switchboard) or via email at antony.watts@avonandsomerset.police.uk
