In charge of the new venture is Peter Card, a specialist in automobilia and cycling antiques, who was an associate director at Brooks, latterly Bonhams. He is joined by Oliver Strebel-Ritter who will be developing the toys and models section of forthcoming sales, the niche market he pioneered at Bonhams’ automobilia sales.
Meanwhile Vienna auctioneers Dorotheum have announced their intentions to compete in the classic car market, having secured the services of specialist Franz R. Steinbacher. Future sales from the new department will include both historic motor vehicles plus a broad spectrum of the associated items that fall under the umbrella of automobilia.
